Why Pork & Fork Preps Is Closed This Week
If you normally order your meals from Pork & Fork Preps and noticed that we’re closed this week, we want you to know it’s for a really important reason.
This week our team is heading to New Orleans to compete in Hogs for the Cause, one of the largest and most impactful charity BBQ events in the country. Teams from all over gather to cook, compete, and raise money to support families whose children are fighting pediatric brain cancer.
This cause means a lot to us.
Hogs for the Cause has donated more than $15 million to help families battling pediatric brain cancer and to support hospital programs that care for these children.
These funds help families with things like medical costs, travel, housing near hospitals, and other financial burdens that come with a child’s cancer diagnosis.
For our co-owner DJ Thomas, this event is about much more than barbecue. It’s about community, compassion, and using what we love to make a real difference.
Every year DJ and our team compete while also helping raise funds for the mission of Hogs for the Cause. It’s one of the reasons we host the EBM Smokeout BBQ Competition each year as well. That event allows our community here at home to join the fight and help raise money for families facing pediatric brain cancer.
While Pork & Fork Preps focuses on providing real, nutritious meals to help people fuel their lives, we also believe strongly in supporting causes that matter. Hogs for the Cause is one of the most respected charity events in the BBQ world, and the impact it has made for families across the country is incredible.
We are proud to be part of that effort.
So while meal prep is paused for a few days, know that our team is hard at work cooking, competing, and raising money alongside thousands of others who care deeply about this cause.
We want to give a big shoutout to DJ and the entire Hogs team for the passion and effort they put into this every year. Their work helps make a real difference for families going through some of the hardest moments of their lives.
